Welcome to our coverage of the second Test between India and South Africa from a partly-overcast Bangalore. With persistent rain over the last one week, the pitch needed protection; the Bangalore ground staff obliged with shamianas put up on the ground to shield it.

The pitch report said some cracks existed, which would only widen if the sun came out. There's also some moisture on the surface expectedly which should help the pacers and also help the spinners get some grip.

This also happens to be AB de Villiers's 100th Test! Will it be one to remember or forget?
