Gautam Gambhir was happier to chase after winning the toss. David Warner was not perturbed about batting first in the important game. Johan Botha came in for Ryan ten Doeschate for KKR. Moises Henriques replaced Eoin Morgan for SRH.

Gautam Gambhir opted to bowl the off-spinner Botha against Sunrisers' left-handed duo of Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner. a ploy that despite not yielding any wickets succeeded in keeping the usually aggressive batsmen quiet. Botha conceded 12 off his first two overs before the SRH openers used Morne Morkel's pace to add quick runs. The flowing start forced Gambhir to bring on Sunil Narine from the other end as the hosts moved along nicely to 43 for no loss after the batting power-play.

Despite not being a breakaway start, SRH have importantly not lost early wickets. They'll want one of these two to bat deep into the innings.
