Australia completed a 3-0 sweep of the Women's T20I series, beating West Indies by 40 runs by the DLS method on Monday, March 23.
Rain cut short West Indies' chase of 212, leaving them at 61/3 in 10 overs. With showers not relenting in Kingstown for over an hour and a half, the result was determined by the DLS method.
Australia's total was headlined by Georgia Voll's maiden T20I century from 52 balls. She joined Meg Lanning (twice), Beth Mooney (twice) and Alyssa Healy among Australia Women's T20I centurions. Hitting nine fours and six sixes, she reached her century in the 17th over and was dismissed by Hayley Matthews two balls later. Later in the over, Matthews also picked up Georgia Wareham, finishing with 3-29 on a day the rest of her teammates leaked runs.
Until that point, it was a largely solo effort by Voll, with none of the other batters in the top five crossing 20. That they crossed 200 was partly down to captain Sophie Molineux, who took 15 runs off the 19th over, and then hit a six in the final over to take Australia to their fifth-highest Women's T20I total ever.
Both of Molineux's sixes came in the cow corner region - one of a full-toss and the other off a free-hit - ensuring Australia finished with a flourish after Voll's marathon effort, incidentally the first century against the West Indies in Women's T20Is overall.
West Indies' response got off to a poor start with Qiana Joseph cleaned up off the second ball by Megan Schutt, trying to play across the line.
Ebony Brathwaite and Matthews then took their time in the Powerplay, before Brathwaite clubbed a six off Schutt in the third over to get things going. Not long after, Lucy Hamilton tricked her with a slower ball to complete a caught-and-bowled, pushing them further in trouble. At the end of six overs, they had slipped to 33/3.
Matthews and Deandra Dottin went through a quiet phase, before each hit a six off Alana King, the Player of the Series, jumping down the track and clearing the midwicket ropes. It was the last bit of fight by West Indies; an over later, players were walking back as rain intervened.
Brief scores:Australia Women 211/7 in 20 overs (Georgia Voll 101, Sophie Molineux 25, Hayley Matthews 3-29, Jahzara Claxton 2-37) beat West Indies Women 61/3 in 10 overs (Hayley Matthews 30*, Eboni Brathwaite 18, Ellyse Perry 1-1, Megan Schutt 1-11) by 40 runs (DLS method).
