Mohammad Nabi fined for disobeying umpire's decision

Mohammad Nabi, the Afghanistan all-rounder, has been fined 15 percent of his match fees for disobeying the umpire's decision during his team's match against South Africa on Wednesday.

The incident took place in the 14th over of Afghanistan's innings when Nabi engaged in a prolonged argument with the umpires over bowler Lungi Ngidi's wrist band.

In taking objection to the umpire's decision, he breached Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. Nabi admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by David Gilbert of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing, the ICC stated in a release on Thursday. He has also been handed one demerit point since it was his first offence in a 24-month period.

The closely contested match between the two teams ended up in a tie, and it required two Super Overs for South Africa to eventually bag two points from the match.
