Sri Lanka have named Pramod Madushan as replacement for the injured Eshan Malinga in their squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Malinga was ruled out after sustaining a shoulder injury during the T20I against England on February 1. Madushan, who was initially omitted from the 15-member squad announced earlier this month, returns as a like-for-like replacement.
The 24-year-old medium-fast bowler has represented Sri Lanka in eight T20Is, taking 12 wickets at an economy of 8.63. He was part of the squad that hosted England before being released when the final World Cup squad was named on February 2. Curiously, he played his last T20I in April 2023.
Madushan joins a pace attack led by Matheesha Pathirana and Dushmantha Chameera. The 2014 champions begin their campaign against Ireland at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on February 8, with Australia, Oman and Zimbabwe rounding out their group.
