VHT: Shreyas Iyer sizzles on return; Padikkal makes 91

Best batting performances

In his first competitive game since returning from an injury, Shreyas Iyer got going and hammered 82 off just 53 balls against Himachal. While Yashavi Jaiswal made just 15, Musheer Khan hit a rapid 73 as a star-studded Mumbai made 299/9 in a shortened encounter. Despite both their openers departing for ducks, Himachal did put up a fight but fell short right at the end by just 7 runs with Shivam Dube finishing with a four-fer.

In what has now become a norm, Devdutt Padikkal delivered yet again but fell short of a century by 9 runs. However, his opening partner Mayank Agarwal went on to register a three-figure score as Karnataka posted a powerful 324/7 on the board. Prasidh Krishna then ran through the tail picking up the final four wickets to eventually finish with a five-fer to bowl Rajasthan out for just 174.

21-year old opener Aman Rao, who made his List A debut for Hyderabad just a week ago, struck a stunning double century. Rao finished unbeaten exactly on 200 with 13 sixes as Hyderabad made 352/5 in their innings. In the chase, Shahbaz Ahmed was the only one to put up a fight for Bengal with a century as they went down by 107 runs.

Vishnu Vinod put on a breathtaking show in Ahmedabad by hammering an unbeaten 162 in the run chase against Puducherry. Vinod took just 84 balls for his epic knock - the second highest in List A cricket by a Kerala batter - in which he cleared the ropes 14 times.

Auqib Nabi picked up a four-fer but it was overshadowed easily by centuries from Priyanshu Moliya and Vishnu Solanki in Baroda's thumping 76-run win over Jammu and Kashmir. Chasing 333, J&K were bundled out for just 256 with Krunal Pandya picking up a couple of wickets.

Skipper Harvik Desai smashed a ton and his opening partner Vishvaraj Jajeja hit 71 in a 140-run stand that set up Saurashtra's massive total of 349/5. Prerak Mankad also chipped in with a half-century whereas Ravindra Jadeja made an unbeaten 36 before picking up a wicket with the ball as well. Services, who were never really in the hunt, got bundled out for 238.

In a blockbuster match that pretty much had everything, Andhra and Haryana played out a thrilling tie. Himanshu Rana's century in the first innings was offset by a marathon hundred from CR Gnaneshwar in the chase. While he batted through the innings, wickets kept falling at regular intervals at the other end with the game eventually finishing in a tie via the VJD method. Anshul Kamboj shone with the ball once again with a three-wicket haul.

Opener Saurabh Rawat hit a sparkling century to guide Uttarakhand to a facile win over Sikkim. Despite Kranthik Kumar's 95, Sikkim were restricted to just 219/8 after which Rawat smashed 112 off 87 in his team's six-wicket win.

In a dominant display, Chandigarh openers Manan Vohra and Arjun Azad hit centuries and added 244 for the first wicket to dismantle Assam in Rajkot. Assam finished with 284/9 following Sibsankar Roy's century before Chandigarh's openers made short work of the target.

An all-round show from Utkarsh Singh and a hundred from Shikhar Mohan saw Jharkhandprevail over Madhya Pradesh. Batting first, MP were bowled out for 277 with Utkarsh picking three wickets. In the chase. Utkarsh hit a fifty whereas his 20-year-old opening partner went on to bring up another century in his debut VHT campaign. At 217/2, it looked like Jharkhand would pick up an easy win but they stuttered before getting the job done with just two wickets in hand.

Dhruv Jurel, Priyam Garg and Rinku Singh hit sparkling half-centuries after Abhishek Goswami's ton at the top of the order as Uttar Pradesh put up a commanding 339/5 on the board against Vidarbha. Aman Mokhade put on a show to try and keep his side in the hunt with an epic 147 but Vidarbha fell short in the end by 54 runs. Kuldeep Yadav picked up three wickets for UP.

Best bowling performances

Mayank Markande and Arshdeep Singh shared five wickets between them to set up Punjab's comfortable victory over Goa. Markande struck thrice in the middle overs to pick up key wickets including that of top-scorer Suyash Prabhudessai whereas Arshdeep removed in-form Lalit Yadav for 54 to bowl Goa out for just 211. Even though Shubman Gill and Prabhsimran Singh didn't deliver in the chase, Punjab coasted home thanks to Harnoor Pannu's unbeaten 94 and Naman Dhir's 65.

In a dramatic collapse, Maharashtra fell short against Chhattisgarh to lose by 6 runs in a game reduced to 31 overs per side. The ball dominated the bat predominantly in the contest in which Ravi Kiran and Ajay Mandal shared five wickets between them to clinch the low-scoring thriller. At 140/4, the game appeared to be there for the taking for Maharashtra who had Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ramakrishna Ghosh out in the middle before Chhattisgarh fought back.

Ishant Sharma, Navdeep Saini and Ayush Badoni combined in unison to deliver with the ball as Delhi picked up an easy win over Railways. Ishant bowled a terrific spell of 4-2-5-1 after which Saini and Badoni picked three wickets apiece to bowl Railways out for just 179. In the chase, Priyansh Arya hammered 80 off just 41 as Delhi romped home with more than 28 overs to spare.

Skipper Chintan Gaja's six-wicket haul wrecked Odisha as Gujarat picked up a mammoth 233-run win. Batting first, Gujarat's top order of Aarya Desai, Urvil Patel and Ahaan Poddar scored half-centuries before Axar Patel smashed 73 to propel his side to 333/6. Gaja then struck thrice in the powerplay and added three more wickets to his tally to bowl Odisha out for just 100.

Gurjapneet Singh gave Tamil Nadu a much-needed win over Tripura. TN on the back of Andre Siddarth's 70 finished with a modest 259/6 after which it was the Gurjapneet Singh show. The left-arm quick removed four out of the top five in the Tripura lineup and added two more to finish with figures of 6/20 as Tripura fell short by 54 runs.
