In a significant development ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formally requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to shift all of Bangladesh's matches out of India, citing growing concerns over the safety and security of its contingent.

"Following a thorough assessment of the prevailing situation and the growing concerns regarding the safety and security of the Bangladesh contingent in India and considering the advice from the Bangladesh Government, the Board of Directors resolved that the Bangladesh National Team will not travel to India for the tournament under the current conditions," the BCB statement read.

"The Board believes that such a step is necessary to safeguard the safety and well-being of Bangladeshi players, team officials, Board members and other stakeholders and to ensure that the team can participate in the tournament in a secure and appropriate environment. The Bangladesh Cricket Board looks forward to the ICC's understanding of the situation and an urgent response on this matter."

Bangladesh are scheduled to play three of their Group C games, against West Indies (February 7), Italy (February 9) and England (February 14) in Kolkata with their fourth game, against Nepal, scheduled to be played in Mumbai (February 17).

Meanwhile, ICC's response on the matter is awaited.

BCB revokes Mustafizurr NOC

BCB have decided to revoke the NOC granted to Mustafizur Rahman to play in the IPL with immediate effect.

The decision was taken during a meeting of BCB officials and concerned authorities. This means that even if KKR change their decision, BCB will not allow Mustafizur to play the IPL for security reasons.
