It will be a straight contest between Team Brijesh's K.N. Shanth Kumar and Team Game Changers' Venkatesh Prasad for the post of president in the upcoming Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections.

The Karnataka High Court has reinstated Shanth Kumar as a valid candidate after his nomination was recently rejected on technical grounds. The scrutiny of candidates was carried out by electoral officer Dr. B. Basavaraaju, I.A.S. (Retd.), under the supervision of retired High Court judge Justice Subash B. Adi, appointed by the High Court.

Prasad was expected to be elected unopposed after the other nominee for the post, Kalpana Venkatachar - also from Team Game Changers - withdrew her candidature. However, in its latest ruling, the High Court set aside the electoral officer's order and cleared Shanth Kumar's nomination.

Shanth Kumar, Director of The Printers (Mysore) Pvt. Ltd., had challenged the rejection, which stemmed from dues of INR 200 owed to the KSCA by M/s Deccan Herald and Prajavani Sports Club, entities he represents. He approached the High Court and succeeded in getting the order overturned.

During scrutiny, the electoral officer had also rejected the nomination of Vinay Mruthyunjaya, another member of Team Game Changers, on technical grounds.

The electoral officer, later on Saturday, published the updated list of candidates for the president's post, with Shant Kumar and Venkatesh Prasad being the two eligible nominations.

As per the High Court's directive, the KSCA elections will be held on December 7.
