Jess Jonassen has withdrawn from the auction
Australia all-rounder Jess Jonassen has withdrawn from the mega auction due to an injury. The franchises were informed about her removal from the auction list, which has now been pruned to 276 players. Jonassen has played 24 WPL games across three seasons, all for Delhi Capitals, aggregating 295 runs at 138.50 and taking 33 wickets at 7.74 ER.
WPL 2026 Auction build-up:
Deepti Sharma, Alyssa Healy and Laura Wolvaardt headline the eight-player Marquee set for the WPL 2026 auction, which features 276 players spread across 39 sets. The marquee group also includes Sophie Devine, Sophie Ecclestone, Amelia Kerr, Meg Lanning and India's Renuka Singh. Renuka enters with a base price of INR 40 lakh, Wolvaardt at INR 30 lakh, while the rest are slotted in at INR 50 lakh.
Overall, 19 players have listed themselves at the highest reserve price, including Phoebe Litchfield, Harleen Deol, Uma Chetry, Pooja Vastrakar and Georgia Wareham. In all, 73 slots (23 overseas) are up for grabs across the five franchises, with 83 overseas players, 155 uncapped names and four from Associate nations in the pool.
India lead the country-wise count with 194 entrants, followed by Australia (23) and England (22). UP Warriorz, having retained only Shweta Sehrawat, go into the auction with the biggest purse - INR 14.5 crore. Eight RTM cards will be in play, four of them with the Warriorz.

Retentions and releases, recap:
Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz made the biggest call on retention day. GG released Wolvaardt despite her World Cup heroics and with only two overseas retentions allowed, they stuck with Australians Beth Mooney and Ashleigh Gardner. UPW, hit reset, retaining only one player, with India's premier allrounder Deepti and Australia skipper Healy being the major exclusions. Meanwhile, the marquee Indian stars - Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Richa Ghosh and Jemimah Rodrigues - were all retained as expected.
Among the other notable moves, Delhi Capitals let go of skipper Lanning after three straight finals, retaining Jemimah, Shafali, Marizanne Kapp, Annabel Sutherland and Niki Prasad. Mumbai Indians continued their faith in young G Kamalini and kept Nat Sciver-Brunt at a higher price than captain Harmanpreet.
