In an ironic end to the league stages of the 2025 Women's World Cup, one more game was lost to rain as India and Bangladesh were forced to split points in Navi Mumbai on Sunday (October 26). The other blemish of the day proved to be the injury to Pratika Rawal that abruptly ended her participation in the game with India now sweating over her fitness ahead of their crucial semifinal bout on Thursday.
India opted for caution as they rested Richa Ghosh following the blow to her finger in their previous match against New Zealand. Apart from the wicketkeeper-batter, the home side also opted to rest Kranti Gaud and Sneh Rana. Renuka Singh gave India the ideal start by striking in the very first over before Bangladesh redeemed themselves to an extent. It took 30 balls for Bangladesh to find the boundary for the first time in the match and just when they were looking to get into some momentum, India struck again.
Rain then arrived to keep the players inside the pavilion for over two hours and when the game eventually resumed, it was reduced to a 27-overs per side affair. While Sobhana Mostary showed intent, the rest crumbled as India continued to make inroads and restrict Bangladesh to 119/9.
The revised target of 126 appeared to be a cakewalk for the hosts even though Amanjot Kaur walked out with Smriti Mandhana in Rawal's absence. Mandhana in particular appeared to be in a rampaging mode when she cracked four boundaries in an over. India raced to 51/0 in just seven overs and were well on their way to pick up a resounding victory before rain arrived again ten deliveries later to put an end to the match for good.
Brief scores: Bangladesh 119/9 in 27 overs (Sharmin Akhter 36; Radha Yadav 3/30) vs India 57/0 in 8.4 overs (Smriti Mandhana 34*) - No Result
