2nd ODI: Sutherland slams ton in Australia's big win
Series digest: New Zealand Women tour of Australia, 2024

After the first match was washed out, Australia picked up a convincing win in the rain-affected second ODI against New Zealand Women. Annabel Sutherland scored her second successive ODI ton as Australia racked up 291 after being put in to bat.
Sutherland's efforts were not adequately supported by others around her as they kept falling after getting starts. Both Tahlia McGrath and Allysa Healy hit 34 which was the next-best score in the innings. Molly Penfold was the architect of the regular strikes as she ended with a four-wicket haul. But Sutherland kept hitting back. She got to her fifty off 55 balls and then switched gears thereafter. She even picked up 17 in an over from Eden Carson enroute to a century which was brought up in the final over of the innings.
In reply, New Zealand were dented twice by Kim Garth who picked up the openers inside the first ten overs. Amelia Kerr, who held the innings together after the quick departures of Sophie Devine and Brooke Halliday, was run out before rain halted proceedings. New Zealand were found to be 65 runs behind as per DLS method at that point with no further play possible.
Brief Scores: Australia Women 291/7 (Annabel Sutherland 105; Molly Penfold 4-42) beat New Zealand Women 122/5 in 30.1 ov (Amelia Kerr 38) by 65 runs (DLS method)
