Duleep Trophy: Samson, Rawat among the runs on opening day

Baroda batter Shashwat Rawat scored an unbeaten 122 - laced with 15 fours - to help rescue India A from the precarious position of 36 for 5 against India C on the opening day in Anantapur. Anshul Kamboj was once again among the wickets as he drew first blood to dismiss both openers - Pratham Singh and Mayank Agarwal early. After the two, Tilak Varma and Riyan Parag too returned single-digit scores while Kumar Kushagra fell for an eight-ball duck.

The innings was then resurrected by Rawat and Shams Mulani, as the pair added 87 runs for the sixth wicket. India C picked two more wickets in the day but Rawat stayed put at one end, forging partnerships and pushing India A past the 200-run mark before stumps.
