Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been handed an official reprimand for a level 1 breach of the ICC code of conduct on Day 4 the first Test between India and England in Hyderabad for deliberately stepping in Ollie Pope's way when he attempted a run. This was Bumrah's first offence in 24 months, with a demerit point being added to his record.

"The pacer was found to have breached Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to 'inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match'," the ICC stated.

The incident happened in the 81st over of England's second innings. On-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Chris Gaffaney, along with third umpire Marais Erasmus and fourth umpire Rohan Pandit, levelled the charges.

Bumrah accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Richie Richardson, hence no formal hearing was required.
