Sri Lanka earn consolation win and World Cup Super League points

A much-needed win for Sri Lanka as they overcome hiccups to register their second win in 11 completed ODIs this year. This is also Sri Lanka's first win against India at home since July 2012. They get over the line with three wickets in hand and 8 overs to spare as the series ends 2-1 in India's favour.

Chahar gets the wickets of Fernando and Karunaratne

A bit too late for India as Chahar finds the outside edge of Fernando's bat and the catch is held this time by Shaw at slip. End of a fine innings from Fernando who departs for 76 off 98. Karunaratne is out stumped thanks to a good bit of glovework from Samson. Sri Lanka are 220/7 in the 39th over.

Quick wickets give India some hope

A 43-run partnership comes to an end as Asalanka fails to ready a loopy off cutter and is trapped in front. He opts for the review but the onfield decision stays. Shanaka is the next to depart, as he checks a drive off Rahul Chahar and ends up handing a catch to Pandey at cover. Chahar is however unlucky not to pick up Ramesh Mendis' wicket in the same over as Shaw puts down a catch at slip. Sri Lanka are 195/5 after 33 overs.

Fernando, Asalanka take Sri Lanka closer

Charith Asalanka assists Fernando in a useful partnership, with the former scoring a couple of boundaries off Gowtham. Meanwhile, Fernando gets a lucky break as Pandey puts down a tough chance off Gowtham's bowling. Sri Lanka are 182/3 after 31 overs.

Is there life in this game?

Sakaria strikes again!! He bowls a back of the hand slower delivery and that ball bounces more than it should have to catch Dhananjaya de Silva by surprise. The batsman didn't expect that one bit and the ball just lobs up in the air to be taken. Is there an opportunity here for India to come back into the game? Asalanka walks out to the middle and he looked very assured last game. Two ideal batsmen are at the crease now.

Redemption for Sakaria

And the very next delivery he gets a wicket. It cost him only two runs as Rajapaksa played a similar shot only for Gowtham to take a very good catch running in fine leg. The youngster will be very pleased, that's his first wicket in international cricket and India have finally broken the big partnership.

Dropped!!

Shocker from Nitish Rana at the boundary. Sakaria will consider himself very unlucky. Rajapaksa pulled a short ball and Rana near the square leg boundary stationed himself comfortably to take but still managed to drop it. This partnership is really flourishing.

Maiden ODI half-century for Rajapaksa

With two successive fours off Chahar - the first being a tough chance going down - Rajapaksa brings up his maiden ODI fifty, getting there off only 42 deliveries. Sri Lanka are 127/1 after 20 overs, needing only 100 more in 27 overs. Can India stage a fightback like Sri Lanka did?

Fifty for Fernando

A fine knock from Fernando, who has paced his innings well as he brings up a 53-ball fifty. Rajapaksa, meanwhile, has a lucky break as Dhawan puts down a tough chance after diving full length at short midwicket, getting his hands to it but not managing to hold on. Sri Lanka move to 111/1 after 18 overs.

Half-century stand

Rajapaksa and Fernando have built a good partnership, with the inexperienced Indian attack leaking regular boundaries. The fifty partnership comes up in the 14th over as Sri Lanka are on track in the chase, moving to 91/1 after 14 overs.

Fernando, Rajapaksa keep SL steady

A useful partnership building between Fernando and Rajapaksa, with the latter dealing in regular boundaries. He has hit four fours so far, including two off Hardik Pandya with a bit of luck going the batsman's way. Sri Lanka move to 68/1 after 11 overs.

Gowtham strikes

K Gowtham has an expensive start to his ODI career as he was hit for a four and conceded five wides. But he came back well, having Bhanuka caught at square leg off a sweep. Sri Lanka are 35/1 after 6 overs.

Fernando starts positively

Avishka Fernando helps Sri Lanka off to a positive start in the chase. Having struck a Sakariya delivery through cover for his first four, he whips a Saini delivery over fine leg for a six.

India bowled out for 225

Saini is the last to depart as he fends at a short delivery and finds Avishka Ferenando run in from backward point to hold on to the ball. He departs for 15 as India are bowled out for 225 in 43.1 overs. The revised target for Sri Lanka is 227 in 47 overs.

An excellent comeback from Sri Lanka after the rain break. The spinners ran though the Indian middle order with quick strikes, with lack of application hurting India. Can the Indian spinners turn things around in the second innings?

End of a watchful partnership

India have gone without a boundary since the end of the 29th over. A watchful 29-run stand for the ninth wicket, which has come in nearly 60 deliveries, come to an end as Chahar departs for 13. Chahar attempts a pull but top-edges it and the bowler Karunaratne calls for it as he holds on to the ball for his first wicket. India are 224/9 in the 43rd over.

Sensible batting by the ninth wicket pair

Boundaries have dried up for Rahul Chahar and Saini have done well to rotate the strike and keep the scorecard ticking along. The message from the dressing room, perhaps, is to play out the remaining overs and the ninth wicket pair is doing just that as India move to 218/8 after 40 overs.

Dananjaya leaves India in more trouble

Two wickets for Dananjaya in the 33rd over as India continue to struggle against spin. He gets two debutants in three deliveries - Gowtham in trapped in front and costs India a review while Rana is lured into a drive and is caught behind - to leave India at 195/8 after 33 overs.

Suryakumar departs, India in bother

Sri Lanka again use the DRS to get one going in their favour. It is Suryakumar who has to depart this time, coming half-forward with his bat behind his pad to a Dananjaya delivery that spun in. He was given not out but replays reveal otherwise. Suryakumar departs for 40, leaving India at 190/6 after 31 overs.

Another for Jayawickrama

Hardik Pandya got off to a good start, scoring a couple of boundaries off Chameera and one off Jayawickrama. However, the left-arm spinner has the last laugh as he pinned Hardik to the crease with one that spun across to trap him in front. It was initially given not out but a good use of DRS helps the Sri Lankan spinner bag a key wicket to leave India at 179/5 in the 29th over.

Pandey departs

A good delivery from Jayawickrama who lures Pandey to reach at a delivery outside off. The batsman gets a thin edge which is held by the 'keeper. He departs for 11, leaving India at 158/4 in the 25th over.

Suryakumar positive after play resumes

With a glance and a wristy drive past midwicket, Suryakumar helps himself to two fours off Chameera in the 24th over to help India past 150.

Update:The groundsmen are busy with the mopping up work. The play is set to resume at 6:30 PM Local, with the game reduced to 47 overs per side.
