Bangladesh win

Shakib al Hasan celebrated his return to international cricket with figures of 7.2-0-8-4 and helped Bangladesh ease past West Indies in the opening ODI by six wickets. The visitors handed debuts to six of their players and the lack of experience was on show as the batsmen failed to adapt to conditions and could manage just 122.

There was a debutant from Bangladesh too - Hasan Mahmud - who bagged three for 28 to ensure there was no breathing space for West Indies. Asked to bat, Mustafizur Rahman removed Sunil Ambris in the second over before a short rain delay forced the players off the field. There were no overs lost but West India were handed another set back when the pacer nipped out Joshua Da Silva as well in the sixth over.

The two early wickets put the brakes on run-scoring and Shakib took full advantage of that to tighten the noose. Back after serving a year-long break, the spinner struck in his second over when he had Andre McCarthy bowled. That wicket started the collapse as West Indies were soon reeling at 56 for 6. Jason Mohammed was stumped while Nkrumah Bonner was bowled as Shakib teased and tempted and defeated the visiting batsmen.

Rovman Powell and Kyle Mayers scored 59 for the sixth wicket but Mahmud bagged two wickets in two balls to pin West Indies on the mat. The West Indies batsmen were poor with their reviews as well and that hurt their chances with Raymon Reifer falling to a wrong lbw call. Alzarri Joseph was the last batsman to be dismissed as Shakib ensured there was no late surge.

Bangladesh openers - Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das - made a slow start as they scored 39 in the powerplay. Debutant Akeal Hosein bowled Liton while Jason Mohammed picked his first ODI wicket when he had Tamim stumped. Shakib looked out of sorts with the bat in hand and made a scratchy 19 off 43 before falling to Hosein. There was, however, no late drama as the hosts eased past the target in 33.5 overs.

Mohammed strikes

Tamim Iqbal has been stumped and Jason Mohammed bags his first ODI wicket. Asked Tamim to defend and beat the outside edge. The left-hander was stretching too far and stumped by some margin.

Bangladesh 83 for 3

Shanto falls

Hosein has his second. Shanto wanted to work that one to the on side and flicks it straight to midwicket. Bangladesh slowing down a bit but need just 66.

Bangladesh 57 for 2

First wicket

Hosein has broken the 47-run opening stand. Liton Das has been bowled by an absolute peach. Pitched on leg stump from the left-arm spinner and hit the top of off.

Bangladesh 47 for 1

Steady start

A good start from the Bangladesh openers. The ball is moving around a bit but the West Indies bowlers have failed to find any sort of consistency.

Bangladesh 39 for no loss in 10 overs
