Well, well, no whitewash for Australia then. India avert it with a good outing, picking up a 13-run win in Canberra. Both sides rode the ebbs and flows well throughout the game to hold their nerve for a close finish in the end. If India had lost momentum midway through their innings, Hardik and Jadeja gave them a late surge after Kohli's anchoring fifty. Australia started slow but after Finch kept them in the chase, it was Maxwell who brought them back into the game with a blitz of his own.

Yet, with 30-odd runs to get when he fell, it was going to be a tough ask for the bowlers. Natarajan had a good debut game, albeit going for some runs, but India will be thrilled to have their old Bumrah back - among the wickets and miserly. And Shardul Thakur was mightily impressive with his variations returning 3-51. Australia will think about their bowling lacking a bit of tooth without Cummins and Starc, but looks like we'll see a lot more of debutant Cameron Green, who although didn't get among the wickets, did among the runs.
