Khushi, a 20-year-old batsman who made his first-class debut in the competition, was pictured on the Lord's balcony recoiling after beer was tipped over him. There's no suggestion of any malice involved and instead, it appears the act was a result of ignorance. It's understood that an apology was immediately offered and accepted by Khushi.
Nevertheless, the incident comes at a sensitive time for English cricket, following allegations of racism made by a number of former players, including Michael Carberry, Emily Rainford-Brent and Azeem Rafiq, and in light of the Black Lives Matter movement which has prompted the ECB to acknowledge a lack of diversity at all levels of the game this country.
