Day 3, No play:Rain and bad light combine to play spoilsport. The day's play has been officially called off.

Bad News:The second inspection is done and the news isn't one bit encouraging. The light remains dim and it means the players will continue to stay in the dressing / hotel room.The covers are well entrenched and the outfield remains wet.There will be another inspection at 5:15 pm local (9:45 pm IST)

A second inspection:It's still wet at Rose Bowl and the umpires have decided to check out the conditions once again at 4:15 pm local (8:45 PM IST)

Promising signs?The covers are coming off, it's stopped raining. An inspection has been scheduled for 15:30 local time (20:00 IST).

Day 3, Lunch:Nothing positive to report from Southampton, where bad light and rain continue to delay the start of the day's play. Lunch has been taken as per the scheduled time.

Drizzle, delay:There's a steady drizzle and the covers are still on, no improvement on weather front. It's highly unlikely that there'll be any play in the first session.

Update:It's currently dark out there at The Rose Bowl, with the floodlights switched on. There's a bit of a drizzle too. The start of Day 3 has been delayed.
