South Africa's pre-game preparations at the ground were brought to a temporary halt just before the toss as the giant screen at the SuperSport park cut to show the final moments of the Rugby Sevens World Series from Hamilton, New Zealand. It was something of a shock for the Proteas players to see their World Champions beaten by Fiji. If they'd been keeping an eye on the score, they'd have been relatively comfortable in the knowledge that South Africa were 17-5 up at half-time. The final moments at Centurion captured how Fiji rallied to win 24-17 and the rugby-loving ground heaved a collective groan.
