Neser to Root, out Caught&Bowled!! Brilliant caught and bowled. Neser goes across and to his right to dive and take that. Root walks off to a standing ovation. One or two Aussies too applaud. This rises on Root as he shuffles across and walks forward, that extra bounce hits the bat sticker as Root looks to flick to leg, Neser in the end catches it with just his right hand on the dive. Points at his Queensland team-mate Khawaja after taking the catch. Fantastic reception for Root who walks off bat-raised to all corners of the SCG. The noise was deafening. Green to Brydon Carse, out Caught by Carey!! Green has his first. Are they checking for the no-ball again? Green looks at the ump immediately. He is fine this time. A length delivery just outside off, that open-face from Brydon Carse and he outside-edges it. Went to push and Carey takes it to his right. Two quick wickets for Australia. Neser to Will Jacks, out Caught by Green!! Neser gets Will Jacks. A good length delivery angled in to middle, squares Jacks up on the back foot, the leading-edge is found and a simple catch to gully. Mitchell Starc to Root, 1 run, 150 for Root. The Barmy Army go Rooooooootttttttttttttttttttttttt! 141.6kph, short of length outside off, Root goes on the back foot and punches to deep backward point. A healthy ovation from the crowd at the SCG. 17th time he has got to 150 in Tests

Boland to Will Jacks, FOUR, nice timing and beats Neser's chase from backward point. It's a short of length delivery outside off, Will Jacks goes on the back foot and punches with a high-elbow, Neser tries to dive and pull it back but the ball touches the cushions

Mitchell Starc to Will Jacks, FOUR, 144kph, short of length and too straight, Will Jacks goes on the back foot and tucks it wide of square-leg and it races away

Mitchell Starc to Root, FOUR, 141.1kph, full outside off, angling away, wobble-seam delivery, Root opens the face of the bat and defends wide of gully, beats deep backward point to his left, went down too

Labuschagne to Will Jacks, SIX, the top-edge helps and it's all the way over fine-leg. It's short and down leg, Will Jacks pulls early and the top-edge flies

Labuschagne to Jamie Smith, out Caught by Boland!! Labuschagne is on a celebratory run! He's absolutely elated. The 94-run stand has been broken. 129.7kph, everyone knows it's going to be short. Smith makes room and decides to play the aerial shot. Hops to slap it over cover and Boland, who is standing a few inches in front of the rope, takes the catch. Head to Root, FOUR, 82.1kph, Root shapes to reverse-sweep but it's a short ball and he has ample time to change his shot. The line is down leg as well and Root pulls it through backward square leg

Webster to Jamie Smith, FOUR, 123.9kph, Smith walks forward and across, converts it into a half-volley and brings his bottom hand into play to whip it between mid-on and midwicket. England cross 300 with that boundary

Neser to Root, FOUR, nicely played! 132.3kph, fuller ball angling in towards middle and Root moves across a bit to flick it handsomely through midwicket

Green to Jamie Smith, FOUR, 136kph, short of length outside off, Smith slashes hard. Fat outside edge and the ball floes over a jumping Webster at second slip

Green to Jamie Smith, FOUR, Green pulls his length back, induces the outside edge as Smith flashes his bat at it. Thick outside edge and strangely Carey and Webster (1st slip) don't go for it. Both look at each other and the ball flies between them. Steve Smith can't believe it and Jamie gets away again

Neser to Jamie Smith, FOUR, shot! Pitched up at 131.2kph and Smith plays a lovely straight drive. Superb timing and hits it just past the stumps at the non-striker's end

First a fist pump, then he removes his helmet, kisses it and raises the bat. Receives a hug from Jamie Smith. Big round of applause from the crowd and he soaks it in by raising the bat. He looked fluent yesterday but has worked really hard this morning to get to the landmark

Neser to Root, no run, outside edge and it doesn't carry to Webster! Pokes at this length ball outside off and luckily for Root, it falls short of the slip fielder

Neser to Root, FOUR, edge and four! Root flashes his blade at this wide-ish ball and gets a thick top-edge that bounces over second slip. Webster picks it late and doesn't jump. Don't think it was reachable

Mitchell Starc to Jamie Smith, FOUR, 144.1kph, big backlift and Smith swings hard to thump this fullish ball wide of off over and straight of mid-on. England cross 250 with that boundary

Boland to Jamie Smith, FOUR, 135.1kph, full delivery on middle-leg and Smith flicks uppishly into the gap through midwicket. The ball reaches the fence in a jiffy

Mitchell Starc to Jamie Smith, SIX, 146.6kph, takes on this short ball and that's a maximum. Leg-lined, flick of the wrists from Smith who pivots and pulls it over deep backward square leg. Nice contact

Boland to Root, FOUR, 134.7kph, too full and too straight from Boland and Root pounces. Brings his wrists into play to flick it through midwicket

Mitchell Starc to Stokes, out Caught by Carey!! Extra bounce from a good length! The line forces Stokes to play at it who looks to defend from the crease and it's close to the outside edge. The Australians behind the stumps are excited, nothing much from Starc. Not given onfield but Smith sends it upstairs. And guess what, there's a spike on Snicko! TV umpire Kumar Dharmasena is asking for the zoomer. Seems like there was a slight deviation. "There is no gap between the bat and the ball, I can see a clear spike," says Dharmasena as he has another look at Snicko. Successful review and Stokes departs for a 11-ball duck. Boland to Brook, out Caught by Smith!! Edge and taken! 136.3kph, short of a good length that straightens a bit off the deck. Brook wafts his bat at it trying to steer it backward of square on the off-side and nicks off to first slip. Could have perhaps gone harder at it. Outside edge to the left of first slip and Smith shows good reflexes to snaffle it with both hands. Still no Ashes hundred for Brook. The 169-run stand has been broken. Boland to Root, FOUR, 132.2kph, edge and four! Extra bounce from a length around off, Root pushes at it. Thick outside edge and the ball runs away to third man for four

Green to Brook, 1 run, short of length and down leg, Brook goes on the back foot and flicks to deep backward square-leg, the 150-run stand is up

Green to Brook, FOUR, Brook takes charge. He comes down the track and flays the length delivery wide of short cover, in the air and in the gap

Green to Root, 1 run, the straight drive and too straight. Hits the stumps at the other end and probably costs Root three. Full and angled in, Root full-faces the drive

Green to Brook, FOUR, 138kph, overpitched delivery and Brook plays a gorgeous drive through extra cover by leaning forward. Brook and Green are ball-watching and almost run into each other

Green to Root, FOUR, 137.2kph, nicely played. Back of a length marginally outside off, Root has ample time on the back foot to late-cut it to the right of gully

Neser to Root, 2 runs, Neser goes fuller and gets it to nibble away. Root pushes at it and the outside edge beats gully to his right. 100 up for England

Green to Root, FOUR, second boundary through that region for Root. Harmless shortish ball outside off at 137.1kph, Root waits on the back foot and nicely steers it to the left of the diving backward point fielder

Boland to Brook, FOUR, edge, safe and four! 136.6kph, shortish outside off and Brook wants to go after it with a pull shot. He isn't in control of the shot due to the extra bounce. The top-edge flies over the slip cordon for a one-bounce four

Neser to Root, FOUR, 130.3kph, half-volley outside off, Root leans forward and plays a gorgeous cover drive to send it into the gap

Boland to Jacob Bethell, out Caught by Carey!! The angle change works straightaway. Over the wicket, 135.5kph, short of length, decent bounce and a hint of away movement off the deck, Bethell is half-forward to defend and gets a faint outside edge. Easy grab for the keeper. Boland to Jacob Bethell, FOUR, nicely played! 136.2kph, Bethell advances by walking down the pitch and moves towards off in the process. Gets into a good position as he converts this full ball into a half-volley and stylishly clips it through midwicket

Neser to Crawley, out Lbw!! Excellent comeback from Neser. Beats Crawley's inside edge with a fuller ball and he's rapped on the pads adjacent to the stumps. Given out lbw by umpire Ahsan Raza. Crawley has a chat with Jacob Bethell and decides to review. Clearly no bat. Over to ball-tracking and it's clipping the top of leg (umpire's call). Sharp in-seamer from a good length and Crawley plays all around it while trying to work it into the leg-side. Didn't account for the inward movement and paid the price. Neser to Crawley, FOUR, 137.2kph, short ball and Crawley goes after it with a convincing pull shot. Rises above the waist, Crawley gets into a good position, swivels and rolls his wrists to send it in front of square on the leg-side

Mitchell Starc to Jacob Bethell, FOUR, 142.1kph, cracking shot to get off the mark. Width on offer, the length is slightly on the shorter side. Bethell cuts beautifully backward of square on the off-side and he opens his accoune off his 15th delivery

Boland to Crawley, FOUR, 132.7kph, another pitched up delivery, Crawley walks across and middles the on-drive to beat mid-on to his left. The quick outfield takes care of the rest

Mitchell Starc to Duckett, out Caught by Carey!! Edge and taken! 143.2kph, nibbling away on a good length around the fifth stump channel. That could have been left alone on line but Duckett isn't known to do that. Chases it with a tame poke. Thick outside edge and Carey dives to his left to pouch it with both hands. Mitchell Starc to Duckett, FOUR, 142.9kph, uppish, in the gap and four! Overpitched delivery on the pads, Duckett flicks aerially and beats Head (deep backward square leg) to his left
