Dhananjaya de Silva and Dimuth Karunaratne stretched their overnight partnership with relative ease on the 4th monring.

Karunaratne completed his half-century and passed 6000 Test runs before falling to Nauman Ali for 61. He put on 126 with Dhananjaya.

Dhananjaya de Silva played positively at the other end and pushed Sri Lanka's lead forward.

Dhananjaya completed his ninth Test ton and in the company of Ramesh Mendis added 82 runs for the eighth wicket.

Set a daunting target of 508, Pakistan began positively through Imam Ul Haq and Abdullah Shafique even though the latter was reprieved through a no-ball.

Prabath Jayasuriya broke the opening stand by dismissing Shafique early.

Sri Lanka could force no further inroads as bad light robbed 26 overs of the play in the final session.
