But Stokes was dismissed in the second session by Seales.

Bairstow kept going though at the other end.

Bairstow added 99 for the sixth wicket with Ben Foakes to lead England's recovery.

While Foakes fell for 42, Bairstow ended the day unbeaten on 109.
