Dom Sibley scored a half-century after a duck in the first innings to keep New Zealand at bay.

Wagner broke the stand between Root and Sibley just when the captain had started to get a move on.

The teams shook hands with the first Test ending in a draw as England finished with 170/3 in their second innings.
