Dimuth Karnaratne fell five minutes before Lunch when he inside edged a cut back on to his stumps. He had added a 45-run stand with Kusal Mendis for the second wicket.

Kusal Mendis was caught off the first ball of his innings. However, the bowler had happened to overstep. Using that opportunity, he went on to put on 166 runs in the day. He didn't give the opposition a chance thereafter.
