Alastair Cook 134 Tests - Timeline

#2 Only Test missed in his career vs Ind, Mumbai, 2006 This remains the only Test he missed in a career spanning over a decade, due to an illness. He is currently in a run of 132 consecutive appearences, second most for any in Test history after Allan Broder's 153 matches.

#6 Hundred on debut as captain (173) vs Ban, Chittagong, 2010 His 173 was the fourth highest by anyone on captaincy debut as England. He followed it up with a 109* in the second match of the series as England whitewashed the hosts 2-0.

#5 Back to the wall innings (118) vs SL, Galle, 2007 After getting routed for their lowest total against Sri Lanka in the first innings(81), England batted out 95 overs in the second innings with Cook scoring a 285-ball 118 to hold on to a draw.

#7 235* vs Aus, Brisbane, 2010 - 766 runs in the series Starting off with a deficit if 221 runs in the second innings, England plied up 517/1 in their second outing with Cook leading the way with an unbeaten 235. His 766 runs in the series is the second most for an England player in any rubber.

#1 Hundred (60 & 104*) on debut vs Ind, Nagpur, 2006 He made his debut along with Monty Panesar and Ian Blackwell and scored 60 & 104* debut making him the youngest England player to score a Test century on debut.

#3 Maiden hundred (105) at home vs Pak, Lord's, 2006 It took him four Tests to score his maiden Test century at home, against Pakistan at the Home of Cricket. It is also one of his two hundreds while not opening the batting.

#4 First Ashes century (116) vs Aus, Perth, 2006 In his first tour to Australia, he struggled as England were whitewashed 0-5 in the 'revenge' series. A century in the third Test at the WACA was his only score of above 43 in the whole series.

#9 Series vs Ind, 2012 His first series as full time captain following Andrew Strauss' retirement, he helped England win their first series in India in 28 years. He scored hundreds in each of the first three Tests, taking his tally to five hundreds in first five Tests as captain.

#8 294 vs Ind, Birmingham, 2011 - Career best score After scoring just 20 runs off four innings in the first two Tests, Cook returned to his elements in the third Test at Edgbaston scoring a career best 294. England piled up 710/7, their highest in a Test since 1938.

#12 14-hour marathon (263) vs Pak, Abu Dhabi,2015 Cook batted for 836 minutes in this innings, scoring 263 - the highest by an England captain away from home. In history, only two men spent more time in the middle in an innings - Hanif Mohammed (970 mins) and Gary Kirsten (878 mins).

#11 Long time coming hundred (105) vs WI, Bridgetown, 2015 A hundred that took long time coming - 23 months, 19 Tests and 35 innings. Finally it arrived in Bridgetown in the series decider as Cook crawled to his slowest Test hundred (off 259 balls).

#10 Test #100 vs Aus, Perth, 2010 Cook became the youngest (28y 313d) and took the least time from debut (7y 287d) to feature in 100 Test matches. He led his side to a 0-5 loss against Michael Clarke's Australians, who also made his 100th appearance in the same Test as Cook.

#13 10,000 Test runs (47*) vs SL, Chester-le-Street, 2016 Cook became the first English player to cross the milestone of 10,000 runs in Test cricket and thereby becoming the youngest to do so in the process.

#14 Test #134 - Most for an Englishman The first Test against Bangladesh will be Cook's 134th appearence for England going past Alec Stewart's 133 matches as the most appearance among 671 who played for England.
