south africa vs new zealand, 2nd test, day 1
South Africa vs New Zealand, 2nd Test, Day 1
South Africa were put into bat after Kane Williamson won the toss. Quinton de Kock (above) opened the batting with Stephen Cook and put on a 133-run stand for the first wicket. De Kock slammed 82 runs.
A catch was dropped, several fell in vacant areas and a few agonisingly close to the fielders.
Hashim Amla displayed fine artistry on way to his 31st half century.
Stephen Cook struggled against the swinging deliveries and a barrage of short-pitched balls. Nonetheless, he showed wonderful resilience to stroke 58 runs.
New Zealand bowlers did managed to frustrate the South African batsmen, but failed to find success as often. No wickets in the first session, two in the second and one in the third.
