PAKISTAN VS SRI LANKA - 1st ODI
PAK Inngs
Theekshana to Hussain Talat, out Lbw!! Hussain Talat goes, but he has done the job for his side. Shuffled across looking to manufacture a big hit, but Theekshana was smart enough to second guess the batter. He went wide of the crease and slipped in a slider that goes on with the angle. Past the inside edge and strikes him in front of middle and off. Hussain Talat lbw b Theekshana 62(63) [4s-6 6s-1]
Hasaranga to Babar Azam, out Bowled!! Cleaned up! That's a peach. Hasaranga does his typical celebration. This is an absolutely beauty. Even Sanath Jayasuriya fist pumps in the dugout. Googly - lands outside off and draws Babar forward into the push, the ball then spins in viciously to beat the inside edge and hit the top of off-stump. Babar looked perplexed but will have to walk back. Third wicket for Hasaranga and he's put Pakistan in a spot of trouble. Babar Azam b Hasaranga 29(51) [4s-3]
Hasaranga to Rizwan, out Lbw!! Plumb! Hasaranga knew. Rizwan knew. The umpire knew. Hasaranga was off on a celebrappeal. Rizwan almost started to walk when he missed it. And the umpire had the finger up in a flash. Googly and Rizwan did not pick it, went right back and failed to get his bat across, the ball strikes him on the back pad and the impact was right in front of the stumps. You don't get easier decisions than that as an umpire. Two in two overs for Hasaranga. Rizwan lbw b Hasaranga 5(8) [4s-1]
Hasaranga to Fakhar Zaman, out Stumped!! Zaman tries to repeat the six and pays the price. He had got the six for the over but Zaman wanted another. Steps out and swings wildly, Hasaranga was smarter this time - pushed the googly outside off and got it to spin away, Zaman is nowhere close to connecting with the big shot and Kusal Mendis has the easiest of stumpings. The partnership is broken and it might be a good thing for Pakistan as the pair were stuck and not able to score freely. Fakhar Zaman st Kusal Mendis b Hasaranga 32(55) [4s-2 6s-1]
Asitha Fernando to Saim Ayub, out Lbw!! After burning a review earlier, Asitha Fernando has taken a successful review this time. A toe-crushing yorker that tails back in sharply and Saim Ayub gets hit on the shoe. No bat involved, it's pitching in line, the impact is in line and it's crashing into the middle stump. Saim Ayub's rusty knock comes to an end. Didn't look in his elements today. Saim Ayub lbw b Asitha Fernando 6(14)

Naseem Shah to Hasaranga, out Caught by Babar Azam!! A juicy full toss on the stumps, there for the big hit - but Hasaranga fails to get the desired connection. Wanted to tonk it down the ground and skewed it off the inside half of the bat. Babar, at long-on, runs to his left and completes the well-judged catch with a leap. Game over for Sri Lanka? Hasaranga c Babar Azam b Naseem Shah 59(52) [4s-7]
Faheem Ashraf to Chameera, out Caught&Bowled!! Faheem Ashraf at it again. Slower short ball outside off, Chameera got lured by the length and wanted to smash this pull into the mid-wicket orbit. Lack of timing and lack of pace = top-edge goes up high enough for a catching practice to the bowler who didn't have to do much in his followthrough. Head coach Sanath Jayasuriya is not happy with he just saw. Scratches his head in disbelief. Chameera c and b Faheem Ashraf 7(19)
Faheem Ashraf to Kamindu Mendis, out Bowled!! Dragged on. Faheem Ashraf has this knack of picking up wickets and he's done that with a wobbly seam slower ball. It was angling away from the left hander and Mendis could have used the angle to steer/dab it behind square on the off-side. He decided to play the pull and got a thick inside edge that went back to hit middle and off. Uneven bounce and lack of pace defeating Kamindu Mendis there. 7 down Sri Lanka. Kamindu Mendis b Faheem Ashraf 9(13) [4s-1]
Naseem Shah to Janith Liyanage, out Bowled!! Cleaned up! Pakistan right on top now. Wickets in successive overs and both set batters gone. Vicious movement and Liyanage stands there in disbelief. Good length delivery, nips back in sharply and Liyanage is rooted to the crease, the ball beats the inside edge and hits the top of off-stump. Liyanage was looking assured but he has to go. Sri Lanka in trouble now.. Janith Liyanage b Naseem Shah 28(24) [4s-2 6s-2]
Nawaz to Asalanka, out Stumped!! Gone! This is a massive moment in the game. Asalanka is one of the best middle-order batters going around and he's been dimissed with over 100 runs needed. This is a match-up Sri Lanka would have wanted their skipper to win. But he departs and Pakistan are jubilant. Asalanka comes down the track, gets deceived in flight and though there was extra bounce, Rizwan gloves the ball cleanly and lights up the stumps in a flash. No need of the third umpire - that's how short Asalanka was from the crease. Asalanka st Rizwan b Nawaz 32(49) [4s-2]
Haris Rauf to Samarawickrama, out Caught by Babar Azam!! Stunner! Babar plucks a blinder and looks at Rizwan. The partnership has been broken. Brilliant captaincy and catching. There was no slip in place till now. But Babar was sent in and he grabs a one-handed catch. Samarawickrama walks down and across, has a tentative poke away from his body and the outside edge flies to the right of slip. Babar sticks his right hand out and the ball sticks. Just when Sri Lanka had started to gain momentum, Pakistan have struck and the contest is back in the balance. Samarawickrama c Babar Azam b Haris Rauf 39(48) [4s-6]
Haris Rauf to Nissanka, out Caught by Rizwan!! Three wickets for Haris Rauf! He's on fire! Back of a length delivery outside off, shaping away from the batter, Nissanka has a poke at it and the outside edge has been taken by Rizwan. With three wickets in quick succession, Pakistan are right back in it. Sri Lanka have thrown away such an excellent start. They are in search of a desperate partnership. Nissanka c Rizwan b Haris Rauf 29(39) [4s-3]
Haris Rauf to Kusal Mendis, out Bowled!! Chopped on! Two in two for Haris Rauf. He's on a hattrick. Short of a length around off, skids along the deck and Kusal Mendis looks to run it down to third man. That's a bad choice though as it takes the inside edge and rattles the stumps. Haris Rauf is pumped as up as he leaps in the air and celebrates his second wicket of the over. Mendis is gone for a golden duck! Kusal Mendis b Haris Rauf 0(1)
Haris Rauf to Kamil Mishara, out Caught by Shaheen Afridi!! How often have we seen Haris Rauf doing this? Just when a partnership is blossoming, Haris Rauf manages to break it. A short and quick delivery around off, Kamil Mishara gets hurried up due to the pace and bounce. Looks to slap it and ends up miscuing it towards Afridi at mid-off. The Pakistan captain makes no mistake and Kamil Mishara's impressive cameo comes to an end. He's set the tone though. Kamil Mishara c Shaheen Afridi b Haris Rauf 38(36) [4s-5 6s-1]
