   Profile
Born in Wolverhampton, Georgia Elwiss is a seam-bowling all-rounder. She represented her home county - Staffordshire - in her late-teens and was roped in by Surrey in 2011. Elwiss got her maiden England call-up in June 2011 where she replaced an injured Jenny Gunn at the Women’s Quadrangular Series. She had to wait for four more months to get her maiden international cap and Elwiss made her ODI debut against South Africa. In the same tour, she also debuted in the shortest format.

In 2012, against a visiting Indian team, Elwiss bagged the Player of the Series award as she picked six wickets in five matches with the economy rate less than 2. Her figures of 3/12 in the final ODI not only fetched her the Player of the Match award, but also a spot in the England squad for the 2013 World Cup. In the multi-nation tournament, Elwiss made it to the playing XI only once, where her team finished third.

Injuries (back and hand) forced her to be out of action in late-2013 and early-2014. She made her Test debut in strange circumstances at Canterbury. Initially not part of the team, a neck injury to Gunn on the morning of the game allowed Ellwis to make her first Test appearance. It was even more special as it was against arch-rivals Australia. Though England went onto lose the game and Elwiss went wicketless, the all-rounder made a statement with the bat - top-scoring with 46 in the fourth innings of the Test.

A more-than-handy player with the bat, Ellwis notched up her maiden ODI fifty against South Africa in February 2016. A regular member in England’s limited-overs squad, she took part in 20016 World T20. A year later, though she didn’t feature in a single game, Elwiss was part of the World Cup winning squad in 2017.

In February 2019, Ellwis was awarded a full central contract by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Did you know: Ellwis is a Loughborough University graduate and has completed a degree in Sports Science with Management.
