Born May 21, 1958, Plaisance, East Coast, Demerara, British Guiana, Monte Lynch, was successful in each of his county stints with Gloucestershire and Surrey. He also played for Guyana. His family had moved to UK when he was a child. Lynch was given his ODI debut against West Indies at Birmingham in May 1988. He was run-out for a duck, and failed in the next two ODIs as well.

He was an attacking right-handed batsman, who amassed over 18000 first-class runs to go with 8483 List-A runs. After retiring from all forms of competitive cricket, Lynch landed a coaching role with Southern Rocks franchise in Zimbabwe.
