Initially, Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan was thought be a left-arm spinner, who can bat a bit. However, when he made history by becoming the first No.11 batsman in Ranji Trophy history to score a hundred, things changed for Vidyut, who hails from Chennai.
Son of former Tamil Nadu cricketer, Venkataraman Sivaramakrishnan, Vidyut made his first-class debut with Tamil Nadu during the 1999/00 Ranji Trophy season. Ever since his historic ton in just his second season, Vidyut was promoted up the order and later, also went on to become an opener.
Representing the Chennai Super Kings for the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008 was the biggest achievement for Vidyut, who played alongside MS Dhoni and other top international players. However, he was never preferred again and soon after, Vidyut also decided to quit domestic cricket.
