A floater in the batting department, Chris Nevin lent spunk to the Kiwi batting. He was a neat wicket-keeper to boot. An ODI specialist, Nevin played 37 matches, scoring 732 runs with his strike rate of 73.20 painting a better picture. He caught in the eye in his second ODI itself, cracking a breezy 74 at the top of the order, scripting a facile win for New Zealand.
However, a prolonged lean patch in 2003 meant that he axed from the side. Nevin briefly represented the Hampshire cricket board side in the Natwest Trophy.
