 Profile
Wicket-keeper batsman Alex Mellor rose to fame after he recorded an undefeated 208 against Suffolk in 2015 - only the seventh cricketer from Stafford-shire to do so - whilst claiming a record-breaking 11 catches in the same game. It was that performance which enabled a one-year contract with Warwickshire at the end of 2015 season and helped him prove his mettle on the big stage.

He made his championship debut with Derbyshire in 2016, thanks to a one-year loan deal with the Club, but failed to cement his spot due to lack of consistency. Warwickshire made a tactical change at the start of 2017 season as they promoted Mellor to open the batting alongside Sam Hain, but the former failed to make the most of it averaging a meagre 9.83 in three games across the season.

His T20 appearances for the Club, too, didn't go to plan as he mustered a string of low scores and could not get past 20 in as many as eight Natwest T20 games. Mellor, however, continues to be a shining light in Warwickshire's second eleven and could be a possible contender for Tim Ambrose's spot in the future.
