The two batsmen have just assumed that the ball has gone to the boundary, without actually watching it, and have stopped in the middle of the pitch to have a chat. It had stopped a couple of yards inside the third man boundary, after being edged past gully. Starc retrieves it, fires it through to Paine who breaks the stumps quite gleefully, much to the shock of Azhar Ali. He is absolutely stunned, not able to process what's happened.
