PLAYER OF THE MATCH
The post-match presentations took a while but it finally happened. Pakistan need to regroup quickly before the 2nd game which is on the 13th of March. Otherwise Bangladesh will be already with the series in the bag. We will be there for the 2nd one. Do join us then. For now it's bye bye from all of us here.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz | Bangladesh captain: "Yeah, definitely. It was an excellent start. And yes, of course, it's after a long time we played ODI matches. It's been difficult to play and everybody handled the situation and hopefully I'm also confident about this series because the way hard work, the players, and I know everything. (on Rana) Yeah, definitely. It was an excellent bowling start. First 10 overs we didn't take wickets, but Rana the way he bowled and the first over he took the wickets and the Taskin and Mustafiz, they bowl really well. First three or four overs and myself as well. And Rana just keep line, tried to bowl in the right area and I just tried to information one thing. If you bowl in the right area all the times [time], definitely it's been difficult to because pace is there and definitely you know the conditions as well. And I think wicket was excellent, but he read the condition and he read the wicket and just tried to his length. (on the remaining two games) Yeah, definitely. Every match is very important, you know, the qualifies [to] the World Cup. And yes, I hopeful, if we play well, definitely, definitely we are confident at this moment. But still we have two matches more. Definitely, definitely very, very important the next match."
Nahid Rana | Player of the Match (translated from Bengali): This Mirpur ground, it was my first match. International start was special. I am able to do something good for the team. Feeling good. (on bowling with pace and discipline) Yes of course every player wants that for the team he will execute his best performance in every match. Sometimes that thing… I mean match to match. I will try to keep this performance going. (on his plans today) Yes of course, on the wicket we… on any wicket, at first maybe for two-one overs there is help. So we try to take that opportunity. And there was a little help as well. We tried to bowl maintaining a good line and length. That’s what we tried to do.
Shaheen Shah Afridi | Pakistan captain: "Yeah, I think we started well when Nahid Rana comes. So I think he bowled really well. And yeah, the start we wanted, that was not achieved for the first game, but there's still two games and as a team we're ready for that. (on what could they have done differently?) Yeah, I think when you lost [lose], there was a lot of points you want to mention, but I feel this is a young team and I'll back this team till the end. Yeah, I think just a small reminder for the team, I think just partnership build and in one-day cricket you need partnership, bowling and batting both ways. But yeah, there's two games and we focus on other game as well."
18:07 Local Time, 12:07 GMT, 17:37 IST: What a thrashing this is by Bangladesh against Pakistan. Their last win against Pakistan came in the 2018 Asia Cup but today it was all about the home side. Nahid Rana the star for Bangladesh with a fifer and he ripped the heart out of Pakistan with that fiery spell up top. After a 41-run opening stand Pakistan were blown away by Nahid who took the first five and should've had a sixth as well but Bangladesh didn't review when Faheem was plumb LBW. Bangladesh's skipper Mehidy took three and only some late striking by Faheem took Pakistan to 114. The chase was a formality with Tanzid Hasan Tamim racing away to 67 as he took down the spinners by hitting them for biggies. Pakistan failed to make any impact with the ball at all and this is a proper beating they have been handed. Bangladesh go 1-0 up in the three-match series. Stay tuned for the post-match stuff...

Sensibly the umps haven't called for the drinks. Just 1 needed. In some tournaments, they would've taken a strategy timeout! Not here thankfully.

Mohammad Wasim to Najmul Hossain Shanto, out Caught by Mohammad Rizwan!! Edged and taken. It's short of length outside off, Najmul Hossain Shanto shuffles across and that forces him to play at that, bit of extra bounce, he guides it to the left of Mohammad Rizwan who dives to take it. The face was open and Shanto curses himself as he walks off. No celebrations in the Pakistan camp. Najmul Hossain Shanto c Mohammad Rizwan b Mohammad Wasim 27(33) [4s-5]
