PLAYER OF THE MATCH
There seems to be no stopping the South Africa juggernaut. Six wins in the tournament now, five of them coming here in Ahmedabad - it’s slowly turning into a fortress for them. West Indies never quite adapted to the conditions and were on the back foot from the outset, though they return to more familiar surroundings in Kolkata for their final Super 8 game. South Africa have done their bit as far as India are concerned. The focus now shifts to Suryakumar Yadav and his men, who are up against Zimbabwe. Switch tabs and catch all the action there. It’s goodbye from here..
Aiden Markram | South Africa captain: (assessment of the powerplay) Yeah, I thought we actually bowled quite nicely. It seemed like the West Indies were going to take the game to you and a few might squirt off, few clean as well, but we thought it was quite tacky. It was a little bit stoppy and with that extra bounce, new ball, a little bit of nip, we wanted to keep really trying to bowl good lengths and with a lot of energy on it. With only two out the ball can travel, but if you keep taking wickets, you're sort of staying in the game. And yeah, we were impressed with our performance in the powerplay. (there was a bit of advantage with the steep bounce) It was, yeah. I think it came from that tackiness as well that I mentioned. So again, we got on the right side of the toss, fortunately, but the guys still had to get the ball in the right areas and they had to do it with a lot of energy as well and in the heat of the day, it's not as straightforward as some people might think. So take my hat off to the bowlers and the way that they executed up front. (what was the feeling in the break?) Yeah, I felt like while we were bowling, the wickets kept getting better and better. So it was about how often do you keep using the wickets and when do you sort of take the wicket out of the game. So that was sort of the thing we were trying to balance while we were out there. But towards the back end, I think, when we went full and went yorkers and the off change the pace, I think it worked really well. And when we got out there, the new ball came on really well, which it normally does in the second innings. So... Yeah, again, like I mentioned, got on the right side of the toss, but also feel the guys have been putting in a really good performance again. (top order is clicking)  Yeah, I mean, I have been with Quinny for years now, and Rick's really come in and made that number three his home, which has been fantastic to see and a massive plus for us as a side. So all the guys through the middle have had to bail us out in the last couple of occasions, and hopefully we can start getting the team off the field and make it a success. (they might be through to the semifinal) That would be great. No step at this comp is easy, so to get out of the group was quite a tough group, Super 8 group is a tough group as well, so hopefully we can get through, but if not, then we take a game on in a couple of days' time and push for that semifinal. (one last game at Ahmedabad?) Yeah, it would be great. It's a bit far ahead at the moment, but the boys have played some really good cricket there now. Getting to know the conditions well, so we'll have to keep playing good cricket and hopefully things will work out for us.
Shai Hope | West Indies captain: I'm sure when you come up on a wicket just as good as that, it was very important to get a big score on the board and losing so many wickets in the powerplay will always set us back. Like I said, I just felt it was a very good surface, maybe 40-50 runs short in the end, but yeah, wickets in the powerplay, so many wickets in the powerplay, that's going to put us back as a batting team. (you must be happy to get 176) You must commend the guys in the bottom half there for giving us a chance. You know, the way T20 cricket goes sometimes, you get a couple of wickets ourselves in the power play, you never know, things could have changed, but you must give credit where it's due, and I think Jason and Sheppi played a really good innings to give ourselves a chance. (was it similar to the Mumbai wicket?) I would say it's probably even better. I thought the balls come out really nicely, not a single ounce of turn I saw when Kesh started and then when our spinners were bowling, there wasn't much purchase, so yeah, I think it was a very good to bat on, can play through the line and if we get an opportunity to come back here, we have to make sure we are learning quickly. (are injuries and niggles the biggest challenge?) Not necessarily, I just think we need to ensure we play, it's just about execution. We have all the right people in our arsenal to make sure that we can play whatever conditions we're faced with. Again, you can have things in your favour as a bowling unit, but if you're not executing then you're still going to give the batters your opportunities to score. It was one of those days where we didn't get enough runs on the board and then it was a lot harder for the bowlers to really pull things back. (prospect of a quarterfinal at Kolkata) Well, you know, everything is not going to come easy. We've got to find ways to overcome our challenges. And the way we've been playing cricket, yes, we've got to put a loss. Sometimes it's good to have a loss earlier in the campaign, but now we see the importance of this next game and it's important for us to make sure we hit our straps well. And we've got to use it as a final as well, our first final and hopefully a two more after that.
Aiden Markram | Player of the Match: I thought we actually bowled pretty well, chasing 180 basically. Obviously the power play was a big thing for us, to get out of the power play quite nicely. So, a nice partnership with Quinny and then we pretty much scored runs really well throughout the power play. It was slightly different (on the conditions). Just taking these in now, the wicket got really good again. It was slightly tacky earlier when we bowled. So, unfortunately it was tough again. But the guys bowled really well up front to take wickets. So, that helped a little bit. I think it's just to try and get into rhythm as quickly as possible (on his batting). Not being so rigid and structured. It's a small difference, I suppose. It's helped quite a bit. Having that sort of rhythm flow when you've got your hands when you're batting. I'll try to just try and lock in two or three weeks. It sometimes works, it sometimes doesn't. But we're quite grateful when it comes. I mean, I think when you open the batting, a lot of that responsibility falls on the captain. So, that worked out nicely. We've got a great relationship with him and then Ricks at three as well. So, the three of us unofficially agreed that we need to make sure the team gets off to a really good start in the power play, especially when the wickets are good. So, fortunately, it worked out for us again tonight, and hopefully we can continue with that trend.

18:14 Local Time, 12:44 GMT: Another statement win from South Africa. Chasing 177, Aiden Markram set the tone with a brisk start, allowing Quinton de Kock to ease into his innings at the other end. The boundaries flowed in the powerplay as the pair put on 69 inside the first six overs. Once the field spread, de Kock shifted gears and took the attack on. The opening stand swelled to 95, laying a solid platform for the chase. Markram then carried on alongside Rickelton, the pair adding another 50+ partnership. They complemented each other well - Markram absorbing when Rickelton accelerated, and vice versa. In the end, South Africa got there with nearly four overs to spare. West Indies were propped up by an 89-run stand between Holder and Shepherd, but 176 proved well below par on the day. Presentations coming up..

Jason Holder to Aiden Markram, FOUR, South Africa win by 9 wickets. They continue to roll on and remain unbeaten in the competition. This is as comprehensive as it can get. The dugout is happy. Full toss as Holder misses the yorker, Markram smashes it straight down the ground and there's no stopping that
