PLAYER OF THE MATCH
MI Emirates will get another chance of making the final in the second Qualifier on Friday. They will take on the winner of the Eliminator between Dubai Capitals and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. Do join us for that. For now, it's goodbye!
Gous | Player of the Match: Was pretty special day for me. Not often you get a chance to get a hundred. Fakhar also batted brilliantly and helped me along the way. Maybe after the powerplay we thought about 190-200, and then Sammy (Curran) played a brilliant knock to get us up to 230.
Curran: Very special, 120 not out in a must win game, not much more you can ask for. Was incredible, they played very well, stuck with the opening partnership throughout the tournament and knew we could do damage on a good pitch. Wind was tricky here, felt like the ball was going all over the place. Naseem bowled really well, especially to come in as the impact player. Usman was incredible, he's quite unique. Hopefully he can do it again in the final. Fingers crossed.
Pollard: 233 was always going to be tough. It's a big loss in T20 cricket (margin of 45 runs), but just thought 10-15 too much on a very good pitch. We've played a lot of games here, won a lot of games here. Haven't played on this pitch, was a very good pitch. A loss isn't too bad. Yes we have a second crack. You always want to crack it in the first attempt but some things aren't meant to be. This is one game where we faltered at the back end. The opposition is allowed to play well and they did.
22:11 Local Time, 18:11 GMT, 23:41 IST: A convincing win for the Vipers who are through to the final for the second consecutive time. Andries Gous's sensational 120 off just 58 balls made all the difference in today's Qualifier. After being put into bat, Vipers' opening duo of Gous and Zaman put on 157 in close to 16 overs, before Gous and captain Sam Curran exploded and took the score to 233. That was way too much in a big game like this, and despite a couple of quickfire knocks from Banton and Shepherd in the chase, MI Emirates were always playing catch up. Special mention to Usman Tariq on debut as his spell of 3/33 sealed the game, getting rid of Banton and Pollard. The pitch also seemed to slow down in the second half and the Vipers pacers, led by Naseem, used the slowies brilliantly. Time for the presentations..
