PLAYER OF THE MATCH
We are done with game 5! We have a double header coming your way tomorrow. So, do come back for more cricketing action. Bye bye for now...
Pathum Nissanka, Player of the Match: I like the venue. Most of the times I have scored runs here. Nothing special. I try to play my best.
Moeen Ali: The fact that we got the points and we feel we can play better. We squeezed them with the ball in the middle overs. Nissanka is a brilliant player. One of the top players in every format. Quietly goes about his business. Vince is a quality player. He just did the business. You just don't need to look good always. He played the situation really well.
Dasum Shanaka: Nissanka is in the form of his life. He works hard over the recent past. He wants to maintain at this international level. I have seen him growing from very small times. We could have shown more intent with the bat. We didn't find the gaps. We needed to rotate strike. We could have sent Powell earlier and I could have gone higher as well.
21:53 Local Time, 17:53 GMT, 23:23 IST: Second win for GG. Two wins out of two for the Giants. The Capitals fall for their second loss. Few chances were given to the batters - Nissanka and Vince. That has certainly cost them. Nissanka set up the chase with a blistering fifty. By the team he got out, he had managed to bring down the rate. James Vince despite being handicapped with his running, used his experience and shepherded the chase. They did lose a few wickets after Nissanka's fall but the rate was always under control and notched up the runs in the second last over. Earlier, the Capitals managed only 160. So many of their batters got starts but never converted it into anything substantial. They will have to rework their plans a little. GG look dominant and will be tough to beat them.
