PLAYER OF THE MATCH
That is a wrap then. Join us tomorrow as Dubai Capitals take on Gulf Giants in Dubai. Cheers!!
Shimron Hetmyer | Player of the Match: I guess that's just the way I am. I'm trying to not have a smile sometimes, but it just comes naturally to me. I always think that once I give myself a chance, I I try as much as possible to stay in it for as long as I possibly can, and then just try to take it over all the time to see how much I need to give, and then just work from there. It's always nice to get one of a fellow Caribbean teammate (talking about the 2 sixes off Sunil Narine), but I guess I wasn't really thinking about it that much at the time. I was just thinking, OK, let me see how much I can get. And then once I got the two sixes, I was like, OK, let me just try to move on to the next over, because we already had that, that was 12, and then Dan was there as well, and he was striking them pretty well. From time to time it gets pretty fun (talking about the finisher role), like today for instance it was actually really fun to go out there and just strike a couple, but if I didn't get the chance to go out a little bit earlier, I accept that as well.
Sam Curran | Desert Vipers skipper: I think we were quite a lucky escape, you could probably say. But, 35-3, we had a lot of consolidation in it. Hettie and Dan played really well, and then our own MSD (Khuzaima Tanveer) to the rescue. It is a tactical change (talking about playing 2 spinners), especially against this opposition. It's just a powerful batting line-up. I thought the way came before this first game was pretty impressive. I felt like we held it back quite nicely. We thought we bowled really well, but again, cruising with the bat towards probably 40, 50 runs in the chase, and then a little twist with Hettie and Dan getting out. And then, yeah, I'm so happy because he's been working really hard on his batting, and yeah, the hard work's paid off. There's a little two points to keep us going, two and two, and I don't think we've ever made it our best by any stretch.
Sunil Narine | Stand-in skipper Abu Dhabi Knight Riders: I think it's not that easy to play shots as you come. So I think the situation made it a bit easier for them where they could play a few overs and then try to carry on the game. Yeah, probably towards the end. I think it was a bit tougher for the spinners and obviously the fast bowlers trying to delay the overs. But at the end of the day, it's not the first time we're going to play with these conditions and it's not going to be the last. So it's still something that we are accustomed to. Yes, it's difficult, but at the end of the day, it's just part of the game.
22:07 local, 18:07 GMT, 23:37 IST: Not enough runs on the board from the Knight Riders. It wasn't a convincing chase from the Vipers, but they had key contributions from Lawrence, Hetmyer and Khuzaima Tanveer. While Lawrence played the holding role after losing 3 inside the powerplay, Hetmyer ignited the much-needed spark in the middle overs to bring the required rate under control. In the end, Khuzaima Tanveer backed himself to play a superb cameo to help his side get past the winning line despite a mini collapse. Ajay Kumar was excellent with the ball, but the rest weren't as consistent. Post-match reactions coming up shortly, stay tuned...

Olly Stone to Naseem Shah, FOUR, creams the drive straight down the ground and that will do. Desert Vipers win by 2 wickets and leap to the top of the table.

Olly Stone to Khuzaima Tanveer, 1 run, on a length outside off, Tanveer drags it wide of square leg and hurries across for a quick single

Olly Stone to Khuzaima Tanveer, SIX, too full on off stump from Olly Stone and Tanveer's carted that dead straight. Livingstone with a commendable effort there. He ran all the way to his right from long-off and nearly pulled off a blinder. He had the ball in both hands, but as soon as he crashed onto the ground, he couldn't arrest his momentum because of the boundary ropes which were within touching distance behind him....
8 needed from 6 now. Khuzaima Tanveer will be the key here for the Vipers. Can he do it?
