PLAYER OF THE MATCH
That's it from this one. We will be back on New Year's Day for more action. Party hard but responsibly. Have a great New Year's and New Year's Eve everyone. Wishing you a very happy New Year wherever you may be. For now it's bye bye from all of us here at Cricbuzz Towers!
Sherfane Rutherford | Player of the Match: Yeah, first of all I want to thank god for this opportunity. It's a beautiful place to be, a great tournament. I think what was important for me in this game was my process. I know the situation is going to always have its scenario, but I think it's important for me to do the basics, get myself in and I know once I'm in, I can always make up in the end. (how long does it to take to get going?) I think it depends on the overs. Tonight I had five overs remaining when I came in. So I told myself even if I give myself six, seven balls, the last three overs we can capitalize. We wasn't expecting to get 92 in the last five, but I think it really went well for us. (on batting with Brevis) I think we play together, we have a good relationship. And I think the conversation was just keep reacting. They gonna try and manipulate us with the field, but I think the conversation was just wherever the ball is, hit it, it's gonna travel. And I think just keep our shape and it went well for us. (on his bowling) I definitely didn't plan on bowling. When I come to this tournament, I never thought of bowling. You know, coach told me he saw that, there's some sort of potential to give him a two overs. So I think, they saw something that I didn't see. (on him dropping a catch) Definitely not. It's very tough when the ball goes high. I don't know the position to take because it keeps swirling, but it's something to work on and, luckily we're leaving here, so hopefully...
Keshav Maharaj | PC captain: Yeah, obviously, it started off really well. Went a little bit behind the eight-ball. But we always knew with the platform that Wihan and Shai gave us in the middle, that it set it up nicely for Brev and Sherfane to display what they're about. Some phenomenal clean hitting that you don't see. So, I think kudos must go to their middle-order and how they came about their business. (on delaying sending Brevis) Yeah, I think we had experience in Shai Hope over there. He marshalled Wihan Lubbe who also got a lot of experience. Just sort of played some balls and took it deep and put the bad balls away. So, that was really nice. And like I said, set the platform up for Brev and Sherfane to come in the end and do what they do best. (on what score they were targetting?) Yeah, when Shai got out, I asked him in the changing room, what do you think is a winning score? He said, look, if you can get 180 or a little bit more, it would be gold. Fortunately enough, we got a little bit beyond that. So like I said, it was some really, really amazing ball-striking from Sherfane and Brevy at the end. (on getting on the board) Yeah, it was really nice. Two disappointing losses. Felt like we played half the game and lost the other half. And to see it come in a clinical performance like that is just encouraging. And hopefully we can run with this bit of momentum into two home games at Supersport Park coming up next week.
Rashid Khan | MICT captain: Well, I think we started really well with the bowling unit. But I feel in the last three overs, in the first game as well I feel like we gave so many runs. In this game as well, I think around 60. I think when you look at it, it's a big difference. Like at the end, you know, you're scoring 220 and 180-190, is a big difference. So I feel like in that area, we felt like we gave the game much more to them. But still, I feel like it's the way we started with the bat, we were there. But making those little bit mistakes while closing the game, I feel we can think about it. (do you keep attacking with the ball or wait?) Well on this ground, I feel like sometimes you try to attack and then you have to get back to defensive mode as well. It's a T20 and changes in five, ten minutes. And I think holding back your main bowlers and at the end, I think to finish the job for you, having more experience, but at the top-order, we got a couple of wickets early. And then to attack on them at that time, I think it's just about making sure you hit the right area consistently. I feel like at some stage, we didn't hit that as good as should have been to put the new batter under pressure. But I think on these wickets, you only need two, three, four balls to start and then you find the gaps. I think the way Shai Hope and the other left-hander played, I think they've given the kind of platform to the other batters to come at the end and finish the job. (better to bat first than chase?) Well, I think we did well last year as well, right, to chase some totals and also to put runs on the board as well. But I feel like, it's not about like we're chasing or you are batting first. It's more about, as a team, how we coming up and coming the discipline, I think that's the kind of word I could use for, especially with the bowling unit. I feel like you are a little bit missing that, either you bat first or bowl first. I think the matter comes like, you're executing your plan correctly and hitting the right area. I think that's something which you're missing in the last two games. And hopefully we learn from it as soon as possible and get back stronger.
20:56 Local Time, 18:56 GMT, 00:26 IST: First win for PC this season and it's with a bonus point too. MICT are yet to register to a win this season meanwhile. Rickelton started well but he was dropped twice. He didn't make that count. Then Pooran started off against SLA and hit four sixes in his first 5 balls but then went for another one against Maharaj and perished. After that surprisingly Rutherford was thrown the ball and he picked up a four-fer by bowling his slower-ball off-cutters. Looked like a planned move by the PC camp as Shaun Pollock was celebrating after Reeza's wicket. The chase fell off quickly as wickets fell. And in the end MICT suffered a big loss. Stay tuned for the post-match stuff...

Tymal Mills to Boult, out Caught by Connor Esterhuizen!! A thumping win for PC. A length delivery on middle, Boult gets forward and clears his front leg to loft, timed it so well but just didn't have the elevation to clear long-on.
