PLAYER OF THE MATCH
That’s all from this game. There’s no end to the Sydney Thunder slump - it’s now just one win from seven matches, and they appear to be sliding out of the tournament. Meanwhile, this victory lifts the Adelaide Strikers to fifth place on the points table and they’ll be keen to carry this momentum forward. Tomorrow, we have the Perth Scorchers taking on the Melbourne Renegades - do join us for that. Until next time, goodbye and stay safe..
Jamie Overton | Player of the Match: Yeah, it was a really good win. Bit tighter than we would have liked, but good to get over the line after a disappointing loss in the previous game. Yeah, at that stage (death overs) it’s never easy with the ball, I just tried to bash it into the hard length and it worked for us the whole innings. I was trying to stay calm and composed. We all know what kind of player he (Warner) is, almost tried to keep him off strike and to face less than 50 balls.. it kind of worked for us tonight. Don't know really, probably bit of freshness, not given up on red-ball cricket, bowling 15-16 overs in a day takes a toll, I can put my energy into the 4 overs and nice to get the speeds up again. Fingers crossed that we make the final. That will be three years in a row that I will be leaving before the finals, but that's the international calendar. I will give it my all for the rest of the games are here and hope we make the finals.
22:08 Local Time, 11:38 GMT, 17:08 IST: A top-class bowling performance from the Adelaide Strikers turned what looked like a below-par total at the innings break into a winning one. Their bowlers stepped up collectively, never allowing the Sydney Thunder to break free, applying pressure right through the chase. Thunder made a steady start through Gilkes and David Warner, who added 73 for the opening stand. However, momentum swung sharply when Thunder suffered a mini-collapse, losing 3 wickets for just 4 runs. Warner, alongside Maddinson, brought the asking rate back under control during the Power Surge, but once that partnership was broken, the chase lost its shape. Despite Warner batting through the innings, Thunder were unable to recover and fell short by 6 runs. Jamie Overton was the standout with the ball, finishing with excellent figures of 3 for 25, well supported by Hasan Ali and Lloyd Pope in a disciplined and decisive bowling effort.

Wood to McAndrew, 1 run, Adelaide Strikers win by 6 runs. They have pulled off an excellent defence here at their home ground. Handshakes all around and Sydney Thunder are left wondering how have they lost this game. Back of a length delivery, not much space for McAndrew to free his hands, mistimes the pull to deep square leg and it is only a single
Lots of chat. First between Short and Wood. Now McAndrew and Warner have a quick conversation. Here we go..

Wood to McAndrew, FOUR, four won't do for Sydney Thunder. Full and angled outside off, McAndrew reaches for it and slices it off the outside edge to third man. The fielder was up in the ring and the ball raced away fine
19.4
Wood to Warner, 1 run, speared into the blockhole, Warner digs it off the inner half backward of square and sprints to the other end. He has to be content with a single. All on McAndrew now. 12 from 2.. Need two sixes
19.3
Wood to Warner, no run, three dots in a row. Every dot getting a loud cheer from this Adelaide crowd. Warner attempts something fancy this time. He crouches low and tries the reverse scoop, misses and the ball whizzes past off-stump
19.2
Wood to Warner, no run, full and outside off, Warner was backing away and has to reach for it, mistimes the drive to extra cover. 13 from 4..
19.1
Wood to Warner, no run, comes down the track, converts it into a low full toss and toe-ends the drive to mid-off. He denies the quick single. 13 from 5..
Luke Wood [3.0-0-31-0] is back into the attack
13 from the final over. All on Warner. It is him or bust for the Sydney Thunder. Wood, who just put down a catch, will bowl the last over. Here we go..

Jamie Overton to McAndrew, no run, dropped! This was a free-hit for McAndrew as it was the last ball of the over and Warner wanted strike for the last. Back of a length delivery and McAndrew looks to heave it across the line, gets a thick top-edge and the ball skies towards cover. Wood settles under it and makes a mess. Not sure if he even got a hand to it
Nathan McAndrew, right handed bat, comes to the crease

Jamie Overton to Willey, out Caught by Matthew Short!! The Strikers refuse to go away. Stunning catch by skipper Short. Overton is pumped. He went back over the wicket and pounded it into the hard length, angled it across and Willey thought he had the width to free his hands, slaps it towards mid-off. Short was a bit square but made the ground by flying to his left and taking it low to the ground. That was a terrific catch under pressure. Willey c Matthew Short b Jamie Overton 8(4) [6s-1]
Jamie Overton to Willey, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

Jamie Overton to Willey, SIX, whoa! That's a smart hit by Willey. This is what pace can do. 145kph short of length delivery, no room on offer but Willey walks across his stumps, gets inside the line and uses the pace to help it over fine leg. Telling blow from Willey..
18.3
Jamie Overton to Warner, 1 run, fullish delivery close to off, Warner goes hard on the drive and drags it off the inner half to deep mid-wicket
18.2
Jamie Overton to Willey, 1 run, short of length around off, no room on offer, Willey tucks it towards mid-wicket and quickly crosses over
Willey walks across and has a quick word with Warner. Overton is bowling from round the wicket..
