PLAYER OF THE MATCH
A fine game and Australia as they always do, come out on top after a real scare. That ends things. We will be back tomorrow for more Women's World Cup action. Do join us then. For now it's bye bye.
Alyssa Healy | Australia captain: Two points. We'll move on. But yeah, look, I think that's probably one of the best innings I think I've seen Moons play. I've seen her bat a lot throughout my career so far, but I think that's hands down one of the best innings I've seen out there. So thanks to her, we got ourselves on the board. I mean, at one point I think we would have taken 150-160 and try to defend that. So the fact that we'd get up over 200 was a huge effort from her and King in the back end. (did the pitch play differently to what you expected?) No, not really. I mean, we saw it. It changed quite dramatically from the few days before it was supposed to play Sri Lanka on it. It got quite dry. It played a little bit how we expected, but I think probably disappointingly we just didn't adapt quick enough and probably got out in similar fashions as we went down the order. So we'll learn from that. We'll reflect, obviously off to a new destination tomorrow and play India next. So we've got to sort of switch back on to a different venue and get ourselves in shape for that. Well, I mean, it's credit to our depth. We speak a lot about it, about how everyone in our order can contribute. We speak heavily about partnerships with bat and ball and I think we're creating partnerships probably just a little bit too late down the order. So for our top order to reflect on, if we get an opportunity to get in, we can cash in with a big score and put a big total. So there's so many positives that we can take out of the couple of games we've played so far. So we won't dwell on some of the errors we made tonight. (on playing at Vizag) Maybe. I mean, we'll get a good look at the conditions. I think they play South Africa tomorrow night so it's tainty to be able to watch. But I know there's a few teams coming here that will probably be watching tonight, wondering what's about to unfold in Colombo. So it could get interesting towards the back end over this lot. But we'll just focus on the game at hand.
Fatima Sana | Pakistan captain: I think we were on top in the first 20 overs and after that Beth Mooney played well, our girls' energy was down and we need to improve on that. If you are on top, you need to be on top till the last ball, we need that type of energy. The way Beth Mooney played was awesome to watch. We decided to bowl just because the pitch was slow and turning, our spinners did well in those pitches. We know we have the best spinners in the Pakistan team. Today is the day, the bowlers were on top, we need to discuss with the batters, who need to bat long. We need to touch 190 and 200. We will chat together.
Beth Mooney | Player of the Match: Pretty high (where does it rank?). We were obviously in a bit of a tricky situation there when I was batting towards the end. So a lot of questions from me going to the bench asking what I needed to do. But we got a couple of partners there at the end in Kim Garth and Alana King obviously to get some partnerships going. I don't know, you'd have to ask them (the talk in the dugout?). I was typically dying when I got back into the changing room after the innings break. But I think the messaging from the sideline was just about trying to get a partnership going. Obviously we lost some wickets in clumps there through the middle. But if you're really committed to a certain style of play and a method that sort of ended up working a little bit. The Pakistan bowlers obviously bowled really well, spun the ball, some didn't turn. But we had to really grind for that one. A little bit from being out in the middle for a little while and also batting in the nets here, speaking to Dan Marsh (assistant coach for Australia) a lot about what my method was going to be against some of the subcontinent teams. Obviously they don't bowl as quick as our spinners, so having a real plan when you first walk out there. For me it was sitting deep in my crease and hitting the ball as late as I could. There was a couple towards the end that turned a fair bit but managed to get away with one. She (King) was incredible, obviously getting up and down first and foremost and then hitting plenty of runs at the back end. We've seen her do that many times before in the yellow shirt and lucky enough to play with her at the Scorchers as well. We've seen that plenty of times. She is just a breath of fresh air. She's a great teammate, one of the best ones going around. How can you not smile when you see someone hit the ball like that? Yeah, she's been mistaken for me (her sister Gabrielle). She actually looks a little bit more like Beth Mooney than Beth Mooney does. Hopefully she hasn't had to sign too many autographs up there. (on her recovery after the first innings) I dunked my head into ice water. Changed all my clothes, sat in the air-con before it was time to go.

Australia Women have bowled out the opposition in 17 of the 20 ODIs they have played since the start of 2024.
21:37 Local Time, 16:07 GMT, 21:37 IST: Australia with a win by 107 runs. It wasn't as straightforward as it seemed in the end. They were in real trouble with the bat at 76/7 and then Beth Mooney turned up. A masterclass of a knock and along with Garth and King, Mooney took Australia to 222. Then the bowlers took half the Pakistan side in the first 10 overs and from there, there was no coming back. Sidra Amin again shone with the bat and Rameen Shamim defended stoutly but that only delayed the inevitable. Garth and Schutt with the wickets in the powerplay and the rest shared the wickets. Every Australian bowler who bowled in fact were amongst the wickets. A real scare for Australia, but their champion qualities showed when it came to the crunch with Mooney leading the way. Stay tuned for the post-match stuff....
