AUSTRALIA CLINCH THE ASHES
Cummins picks the last wicket. And it's 3-0 to Australia with two matches to go. The Ashes have been regained. Smith rushes off to collect the ball as well. They've won by an innings and 41 runs.
Good morning and welcome to the final day of the third Ashes Test in Perth. The equation as it stands is simple: Australia need six more wickets to regain the Ashes; England need inclement weather to intervene. Heavy rain is forecast until lunch time.
Day four was called off midway through the final session after heavy rain lashed the normally sweltering Perth with the visitors reduced to 132 for 4, with a deficit of 127 runs before the day's play was called off. Their top order once again crumbled against Australia's pacers, minus James Vince, who seemed adept at stymying Australia's charge with a determined 55.
Play begins early on the final day to make up for lost time yesterday. It was bucketing down in Perth an hour ago. Seems to have eased off now, but covers are still on. Some water seems to have seeped under the covers from the overnight rain. A draw seems quite plausible really, much to England's relief and Australia's dismay. We'll keep you posted as and when.
