ALL OVER - India win by an innings and 239 runs

That's the joint-biggest Test victory for India! And it has come with Ravichandran Ashwin's 300th Test scalp. Sri Lanka have been bowled out for 166 - a meek batting effort, to put it very mildly. Sri Lanka began Day 4 with the task of batting out long sessions if they were to get anywhere close to a draw, but their batsmen didn't appear to have the gumption for such an effort. They made basic batting errors, and threw away wickets in the face of such a such a herculean task.

Chandimal scored a fifty, but that achievement appeared miniscule in the bigger scheme of things. Eventually, when they folded, they were left with their heaviest Test defeat - by an innings and 239 runs - which also happens to be India's joint-biggest Test victory. Exceptional, clinical stuff from India. Quite the opposite from Sri Lanka. All the confidence that had been built up in UAE and Kolkata has been absolutely blown away in Nagpur. What awaits them in Delhi? Who knows! That's all from us for now, good bye!

Dinesh Chandimal is gone!

The Sri Lankan captain has flicked an Umesh Yadav ball to Ravichandran Ashwin at fine leg. He's gone for 61 off 82 balls, giving Umesh his 99th Test wicket. Will he get his 100th or will Ashwin get his 300th to earn India the win?

Can Sri Lanka avoid their biggest Test defeat? Or India's biggest Test win?

So here's the deal. India's biggest Test win till date is by an innings and 239 runs. Sri Lanka's biggest Test defeat is by an innings and 229 runs. Can the last-wicket stand avoid both. Some consolation maybe?

LUNCH - Sri Lanka 145 for 8

So Sri Lanka somehow survive and go into the Lunch session. India were expected to wrap it up in the 15-minute extension but somehow, Sri Lanka have stayed on. Dinesh Chandimal has scored a half-century but things are still very grim for the visitors. It is a matter of when, not if, India will take that series lead. Ashwin heads into the break with 299 Test scalps. The end for Sri Lanka is nigh, but let them have some lunch first!

Sri Lanka are on a swift downward slide!

India are just two wickets away from a HUGE victory! Ashwin has struck thrice - first to remove a trigger-happy Dasun Shanaka who took one risk too many and perished by giving a catch to long on. Dilruwan Perera got an arm-ball that just about missed the edge and struck the batsman on the front pad. The umpire signalled out and Perera reviewed. Replays showed that some portion of the ball would've hit the leg stump and it remained umpire's call. Rangana Herath walked out and gloved the second ball he faced. The ball ricocheted to Ajinkya Rahane at first slip to give Ashwin his 50th Test wicket of the year and 299th overall. Sri Lanka 107 for 8!

Five down!

Ishant Sharma has earned his reward for exceptional bowling this morning. He squares up Dickwella with length ball that tailed away a bit. It was in the zone where Dickwella had to play at it, and ended up nicking it. Virat Kohli at second slip juggled on first attempt, but caught it on the second attempt. Sri Lanka 75 for 5.

Ravindra Jadeja strikes again

Turn away, Sri Lanka fans... this isn't looking good! Draw was always an outlandish thought, a far-fetched dream but the visitors are doing nothing to at least keep it alive for a little longer. For second time today, a batsman has played an unnecessary shot to throw his wicket away. And what's worse, it is the most experienced Angelo Mathews this time. A bit of flight from Jadeja, bowled outside the off-stump and Mathews hit it straight to Rohit Sharma at mid-off. Horror stuff, really. Sri Lanka 68 for 4.
