The Queen of Cool

Mithali Raj sits on the sidelines as her teammate Smriti Mandhana sets the World Cup alight. In her hand, Raj has a book, someone on twitter points out it is 'Essential Rumi' and maybe it is, and she intently reads. If the audience wasn't already picking up their jaws from floors following Mandhana's stunning onslaught, Raj's image definitely did the job. It even floored ICC's social media team, who labelled her the 'Queen of Cool'.

This was no Indian movie that overshot their stars' actual powers by a couple of mega tons, or confused their strength with that of an elephant, or three. This wasn't a masculine-as-masculine gets hero watching coolly from the outside as the opposition made rowdy taunts. Raj was merely getting into her zone as carnage was being unfurled around her. It's what she usually does. Queen of Cool, indeed.
