Campbell was troubled by Shami in the ninth over as the Indian pacer rapped him on the pads before going past his outside edge. The batsman though put that behind him as he flicked one to the leg side for another boundary off Shami. Hope, the centurion of the first game, got off the mark with a three off Thakur in the 10th over, while Campbell received a lucky break, put down by Dhawan, as the hosts moved to 36 for 1.
After a good workout in the first practice game against West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) President's XI, the Indians will face the same opposition in a three-day encounter starting today at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts. R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Murali Vijay, who were rested for the opening two-day encounter, are likely to be included while a couple of seamers are likely to be rested for this game.
On the opening game, the batsmen had a good outing with Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul registering half-centuries while Cheteshwar Pujara also came up with a solid knock. Meanwhile, the bowlers had a to remain patient on a slow wicket, with Shai Hope and Rajendra Chandrika keeping them waiting for major parts of the first and the second sessions. However, Amit Mishra stuck to his task, bowling teasing lines and was rewarded with a four-wicket haul.
For WICB President's XI, Chandrika, who scored a composed half-century in the first warm-up match, is not part of the team for the second game. Kemar Roach, who was left out of the squad for the opening Test against India, is part of the President's XI squad and he will be eager to impress and make a case for his selection for the Test matches to follow the one in Antigua.
