Day 3 of the Durban Test turned out to be a day to remember for England. They started well with the ball and finished strongly with the bat. At the end of a fascinating day's cricket, the visitors have earned an overall lead of 261 runs - with seven second innings wicket still remaining. It was a day to forget for the hosts. They slided with the bat, lost the services of Dale Steyn and their catching was woeful. You don't expect AB de Villiers to drop chances, but he was the culprit on two occasions. England finished Day 3 at 172/3, with Joe Root - who was an early beneficiary of AB's largesse - looking in total control. Will South Africa fightback or will the visitors run away with the game?

Hello and a warm welcome to Day 4 of the first Test between England and South Africa.
The umpires are having a close eye on the light meters. It has become quite dark with a bit of cloud hovering over the ground. Not enough to disrupt the game at the moment though.
A stunning catch at short extra cover ended Woakes' stay while Stuart Broad was out nicking behind to the wicket-keeper. van Zyl proved to be the man to hasten the end.
Not everyday does AB de Villiers strand himself nearly halfway down the track. Lucily for him, Bairstow was blinded by his movement and failed to collect the sharply turning ball. A defiant little stand growing between du Plessis and de Villiers now.
Against the run of play, Joe Root top edged a short and wide one to first slip, off Abbott. England were firmly in command though and the only regret for England at that stage would have been that Root missed out yet another hundred this year.
Soon after, Ben Stokes too perished while trying to up the ante. A reverse sweep ballooned up to slip again but the indications were clear that England would be pushing for a declaration sooner rather than later.
