Australia batter Travis Head has been released from the ongoing T20I series against India to turn out for South Australia in the upcoming round of the Sheffield Shield. The move comes as selectors continue to fine-tune player workloads and priorities ahead of the Ashes, which begins later this month.

Head, who featured in the opening three matches of the five-match T20I series, will now join a host of senior players returning to domestic red-ball duty. Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood are also set to feature in New South Wales' Shield clash starting on Monday. Cameron Green meanwhile is expected to return to the bowling crease in Western Australia's clash with Queensland at the WACA Ground after his return with the ball from back surgery was stunted by side soreness suffered before last month's ODIs against India.

Australia's first Test of the summer against England is scheduled to begin on November 21 in Perth. The ongoing T20I series against India concludes with games in Gold Coast and Brisbane later this week.
