The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Sunday (October 19) that they have included left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed in the ODI squad for the ongoing series against the West Indies.
Bangladesh add Nasum to ODI squad for WI series
The 30-year-old Nasum, who has taken 16 wickets in 18 ODIs at an economy of 4.48, had last appeared in an ODI in December 2024.
In the series opener, spinners from both sides played a dominant role in the low and slow surface prepared at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday and that has likely prompted Nasum's addition.
West Indies left-arm spinner Khary Pierre came up with a brilliant bowling display picking 1-19 in his 10 overs while off-spinner Roston Chase picked two wickets for the tourists. Bangladesh's tweakers literally won the game for the hosts as Rishad Hossain and Tanvir Islam shared eight wickets between them.
Bangladesh lead the three-match series 1-0 following their win on Saturday at the SBNCS, Mirpur. The second and third ODIs will be held on 21 and 23 October at the same venue.
