Aged 25 years & 301 days, Shubman Gill becomes the youngest Indian captain to win a Test overseas, the previous youngest being Sunil Gavaskar (26 years & 202 days) against New Zealand in Auckland in 1976. Overall, Gill is the fourth youngest to lead India to a Test win after Sachin Tendulkar, MAK Pataudi, and Ravi Shastri.
19 - This was the 19th Test played by an Asian side at Edgbaston and the first time they have come out on the winning side. It happens to be the longest wait by Asian teams at a venue outside the sub-continent where they have to register their maiden win. 10/187 by Akash Deep (4/88 and 6/99) is the best match figures for an Indian bowler in Tests in England, surpassing Chetan Sharma's 10/188 at the same venue in 1986. He became the first Indian seamer to take a ten-wicket haul for India since Umesh Yadav's 10/133 against West Indies in Hyderabad in 2018 while the last to do so away from home was Ishant Sharma (10/108) in Bridgetown in 2011.
