Shivam Dube can smash spin. He knows it, CSK know it, all the other 9 teams know it, and their fielders hovering inches from the boundary skirting in anticipation of a mishit know it. GT's left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore, who couldn't stay out of Dube's big hitting arc on the first two balls he bowled to the CSK batter, also knew it.
Sai Kishore finished a distant second in the one-v-one tussle that welcomed Dube to the middle, but so did arguably the best spinner in the format - Rashid Khan. Dube's loud arrival meant Shubman Gill had to maneuver his bowling options smartly for as long as the spin-biffer was still around. He trusted his most experienced spinner to engage in an unfavourable battle and still come out on top, but there was no such luck
